why adpi: caroline and Chloe

Caroline and Chloe share their experience of becoming friends through ADPi and how The Masters was able to bring them closer together!

"My name is Caroline Marshall, I am in AC'21 and I am from Augusta, Georgia! I love my hometown so much, but especially during the best week of the year- Masters week! Growing up, my dad had always referred to this week as “Christmas in Augusta” and that statement could not be more true. For as long as I can remember, I would spend this week on the course eating pimento cheese sandwiches, spending too much money at the pro shop, and watching golfers that I grew up idolizing play golf. After coming home from the course, we would celebrate by hosting dinners and watch parties all week long for all of our friends and family. It truly was my favorite week of the year, but my favorite Masters experience without a doubt was last year when my family hosted Chloe Levine while she worked for the tournament.

Chloe and I were neighbors in East Quad freshman year and have been close since meeting on move-in day. I remember standing in line with her for Preference Round during recruitment and thinking “I want to go ADPi so I can have friends like her!” Lucky enough, my wish came true and we have been friends and sisters ever since! When Chloe told me that she was working The Masters tournament, I was so excited and could not wait to offer her a place to stay. Little did I know, my family would end up loving her just as much as I did! Throughout the week, I watched Chloe grow close with my entire family and I could not have been happier to have had her stay with us. Every night, she would come home and tell us about her day while we all ate dinner together and stayed up until 2 AM just talking and hanging out, knowing she had to be up at 5 the next morning. We even have a group chat with Chloe and my entire family that we still use to this day! This week holds such a special place in my heart, but even more, it was what brought Chloe and me even closer together! I will forever be thankful to ADPi and all of the opportunities and friendships that it has given me!"

“My name is Chloe Levine, I am in AC'21 and I’m from Gaithersburg, Maryland! Moving away from home was hard for me at first, but ADPi helped me adjust to the distance right away. I’ve always been super close with my family and friends from home so I knew that leaving would be difficult but I was so excited to meet new people and have new experiences. One great experience in particular was meeting Caroline Marshall and her amazing family. Caroline and I have been best friends since the beginning of freshman year when we lived in East Quad right next to each other and both ended up choosing ADPi during recruitment! From late-night talks and ice cream runs, to long walks, and shopping trips, we quickly became close friends. Knowing I had a hard time being far from home, Caroline invited me to come to family dinners in Augusta and I quickly became close with her truly perfect family. I was so thankful that I was able to share such a special bond with one of my best friends and her family. When sophomore year rolled around and I decided to work The Masters tournament at Augusta National, the Marshalls kindly offered to host me that week! I knew I wanted to work The Masters because my older brother had the opportunity to do so a couple of years before. I had no idea that it would become one of the best weeks of the year! Staying with the Marshalls for the tournament consisted of playing tons of games, crawfish boils, talking till 2 AM before getting up at 5 AM, and seeing all that Augusta has to offer. During a week of madness, and 15-hour work days, it was so nice to come home to the best family ever and the most amazing hosts. Caroline came back and forth from Columbia to hang out with us during that week and I truly felt like part of the family. I am so thankful that ADPi brought us closer together and that we were able to share such an amazing experience! I am so grateful to have a friend like Caroline and I can’t wait for her to come to Maryland this summer and hang out with me and my family! I’m currently studying abroad right now and I can not wait to go home and give her a big hug!”
