Recruitment is just around the corner, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to welcome each and every Potential New Member! We are beyond excited for this year’s Recruitment and cannot wait to meet you all in August. To help you feel as prepared and comfortable as possible, we've put together a list of recommended items to bring with you.

Please note: none of these items are required, but they’ve been helpful to many PNMs in the past, and we hope they’ll be helpful for you too!

  1. Essential Tote Bag: You'll want a medium-sized tote, big enough to hold your daily necessities, but light and easy to carry as you move between parties. Many girls bring similar-looking bags, so tying a ribbon or personalizing yours can help it stand out and avoid confusion. This bag helps you stay organized, prepared, and hold any information you may get during long recruitment days.

  2. Portable Fan: Columbia summers are no joke as they are incredibly hot and humid, especially during recruitment when you’re often outside. A small handheld fan is a lifesaver for staying cool and composed, helping you look and feel your best through every party.

  3. Towel: A small towel is perfect for when you are waiting in between parties and often sit in the grass during this time. We recommend a towel that will easily fold, so it does not take up too much room in your bag!

  4. Blister Bandages: You’ll be on your feet a lot—walking, standing, and sometimes even rushing from one event to the next. Blister bandages can be a total game-changer, helping you stay comfortable and avoid painful distractions that can take away from your focus.

  5. Snacks, Protein Bars, & Water: With tight schedules and little time between events, it can be tough to grab a meal. Packing light snacks and staying hydrated ensures you have the energy to stay present and engaged throughout the day.

  6. Touch-Up Essentials (Perfume, Deodorant, Hairbrush, Makeup): Recruitment days are long, and touch-ups between rounds help you stay fresh and confident. These small essentials allow you to quickly refresh your look and feel put together for every conversation.

  7. Breath Strips: Breath strips are a discreet way to keep your breath fresh between rounds and to stay ready for the next conversation you will have. They're a small but important detail in helping you feel polished and prepared.

  8. Comfy Shoes (Sandals/Flip-Flops):If you’re wearing heels, chances are your feet will get sore by the end of the day. Packing a pair of flip-flops gives you relief and keeps you moving comfortably between events. These will be perfect for traveling from houses to greek village on days you wear heels with your outfit!

  9. Umbrella: Unexpected rain can put a damper on your outfit and hair, so a compact umbrella or lightweight rain jacket is a smart addition.
