PHILANTHROPY WEEK RECAP 2023

Service is one of our four pillars here at Alpha Delta Pi. And, Beta Epsilon really takes it to another level during Philanthropy Week!

Ronald McDonald House provides a home-away-from-home for families with loved ones receiving treatment at nearby hospitals, while providing those staying there with love and compassion. Here at the Beta Epsilon chapter of Alpha Delta Pi, we are fortunate to have a Ronald McDonald House just 10 minutes away. This allows our sisters to have a local impact through activities like cooking dinner at the Ronald McDonald House, providing grab bags for families and walking Alphie, the dog we donated to RMH. While we are grateful to have these opportunities to serve our philanthropy throughout the year, we always look forward to hosting our annual Philanthropy Week.

Each year, our chapter hosts a week filled with fun service activities to raise money for Ronald McDonald House Charities. This year, activities included Pie-A-Pie, percent days at our favorite local businesses, and Ronald McDonald House grab bag making. Then, we followed all of this up with our third annual Boot Scootin’ Barbeque! Not only did we have a fun time hosting and attending these events with our sisters, but we also raised $25,909 for the philanthropy that we serve and love!

The week began with one of our favorite events, Pie-A-Pie. Pie-A-Pie is an annual event where students can donate money to “pie” an ADPi in the face. Things can get a little messy, but it is totally worth it for the Ronald McDonald House!

During the week, our sisters also got the opportunity to volunteer at Final Victory Rescue, a local animal shelter seeking to provide animals with a loving and positive experience. Our volunteers assisted with feeding and playing with the dogs located at the shelter.

Next, we hosted Grab Bag Making at the ADPi house, where we assembled and decorated grab bags for families staying in the Ronald McDonald house. Grab bags are filled with snacks and water for families on the go, which allows them to focus more on their families than preparing snacks.

Throughout the week, our chapter hosted Percent Nights at our favorite local restaurants. Percent Nights allow us to pair up with local businesses - and a percentage of their sales during the event is donated to RMH. This week, members enjoyed ice cream and sweet treats at Baked Bear and bagels from Sully Steamers, a local breakfast favorite. This was a great opportunity to spend quality time with our sisters while raising money for RMH.

To top off our chapter’s philanthropy week, we hosted our main philanthropy event, The Boot Scootin Barbeque. Our sisters, their friends and their families were able to enjoy a night full of live music, southern style BBQ and silent auction bidding, all while raising money for the philanthropies we hold dear to our hearts.
