Philanthropy Week recap 2022

Philanthropy week is an opportunity for our chapter to participate in events that raise money for our national philanthropy, Ronald McDonald House Charities. RMHC provides a home-away-from-home for families with loved ones who are receiving life-saving treatment at nearby hospitals. The house, including the volunteers and staff, provides those staying there with love and compassion during the most difficult times. The Ronald McDonald House Charities of Columbia is located just 10 minutes from our chapter, which allows us to have an impact at both the local and national level.

Monday: Grab Bag Making at the ADPi House

We understand how difficult it is to care for yourself during a stressful time, which is why we assemble and decorate Grab Bags. Grab Bags are paper lunch bags filled with water and snacks for families to take on their way out the door. This effort allows families to spend more time with their loved ones without sacrificing their own health.

Tuesday: Outdoor Game Night & Baked Bear Percent Night

Outdoor Game Night at the Ronald McDonald House is where families can play corn hole, Kan Jam, and other yard games with us. It’s a great way to keep siblings busy and put a smile on families’ faces. Afterward, we hosted a Percent Night at Baked Bear, a popular ice cream spot. A percent night is where we pair up with our favorite businesses, and a percentage of their sales during the event is donated to RMH. Chapter members are encouraged to bring anyone who wants to contribute!

Wednesday: Pie-A-Pi, Make-A-Meal, & Chipotle Percent Night

Pie-A-Pi is a highly anticipated, on-campus event where students can donate money to “pie” an ADPi in the face. If you want to get messy, this is the reason to do so! Later on, we had the opportunity to participate in Make-A-Meal. This is a weekly volunteer opportunity where chapter members cook dinner for the families at RMH. Through Make-A-Meal, many of us develop personal connections with the families, and we hold these interactions very close to our heart. We finished the evening with a Percent Night at Chipotle!

Thursday: Pawmetto Lifeline & Vestique Percent Night

Pawmetto Lifeline is a local animal shelter that offers fun volunteer opportunities throughout the year. This week, our volunteers assisted with cleaning kennels and feeding and playing with the kittens. We rounded off the afternoon with a Percent Night at Vestique, one of our favorite boutiques. This was the perfect time to grab your next gameday outfit or a gift for that upcoming birthday!

Friday: Boot Scootin’ Barbeque

Philanthropy Week finished strong with our Second Annual Boot Scootin’ Barbeque. This sold-out event included live music, a cash bar, a silent auction, and unlimited BBQ! Altogether this week, the Beta Epsilon Chapter of Alpha Delta Pi raised $29,359.83 in support of Ronald McDonald House Charities of Columbia and the Alpha Delta Pi Foundation.

We would like to give a huge thank you to our Director of Philanthropy, Casey Beetle, for her incredible job this week! Our chapter is so proud to have you!
