SEMESTER AT A GLANCE: LIFE AS AN ADPI

Although we wish we could share every moment as a member of Beta Epsilon, this timeline of highlights is a great peek into our incredible semester! Let us know your favorite event in the comments!

Recruitment: Aug. 11-21

Before welcoming the ladies of our newest Alpha Class, they were Potential New Members! With each round, current ADPIs introduced new aspects of Beta Epsilon. PNMs learned about the Ronald McDonald House, philanthropy and social functions, our close-knit sisterhood, life in the Pi Palace, and so much more.

Bid Day: Aug. 22

Our alphas FINALLY ran home to their forever family! This year's theme, It’s Hard Being A Diamond in a Rhinestone World, was the perfect excuse to pop on a cowgirl hat and cover ourselves in glitter. So many alphas met their future best friends and bigs on this day!

My Tie: Sept. 2

Our first social function was hosted at an outdoor restaurant venue: Savagecraft Ale Works. Ladies wore cocktail dresses and a tie “stolen” from their date to complete the theme.

BIG LITTLE REVEAL: SEPT. 10

Prior to reveal day, alphas go on “dates” to get to know the older member class and find their big! These dates can be anything from getting acai bowls to tubing on Lake Murray. On reveal day, each ADPI family reveals themselves to their newest member (the alpha) in themed costumes!

CHAPTER RETREAT: SEPT. 12

ADPI decided to keep chapter retreat local this year, and there is no better place on campus than Strom pools! Being just a few days after Big Little Reveal, this event was a great opportunity to bond with our new families and relax under the sun!

TOGA MIXER: SEPT. 23

Also known as “Greeks in Greece,” this semester’s mixer was toga themed! We joined with Tri Delta, Kappa Alpha, and Sigma Alpha Epsilon to have a night full of DIY outfits, dancing, and neon lights!

LAST ALPHA SESSION: Oct. 4

Alphas attend weekly informational sessions hosted by the Director of New Member Experience at the Pi Palace. These sessions help new members acclimate to Beta Epsilon, meet fellow alphas, and answer all questions. For our sixth and final alpha session, our soon-to-be deltas enjoyed a sunset pizza party!

MALLARD: OCT. 15

Mallard is possibly our most iconic social function! Across all chapters, ladies of ADPI and their dates dress in head-to-toe hunting gear. This includes duck boots, trucker hats, calls around our neck, and neon orange vests! To top it off, the live music is all country!

INITIATION: OCT. 20-22

Initiation is a three-day ceremony held to turn our new members (alphas) into deltas! This time emphasizes what it means to be a part of the ADPI family–throughout college and beyond.

Boot Scootin’ BBQ: Nov. 5

The Boot Scootin’ BBQ was our main philanthropy event of the semester. It was attended by alumni, family, current ADPI’s, and members of our community to benefit the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Columbia and the Alpha Delta Pi Foundation. We cannot wait to make this an annual event!

Semi Formal: Nov. 19

For one last hoorah before Thanksgiving break, ADPI hosted its semi formal at the Columbia Art Museum.

Golden Lion:

Of course, we cannot conclude our semester highlights without including our proudest moment: receiving the prestigious Golden Lion Award from Grand Council! Read more about this honor here.
